(HOUSTON) — Two separate school bus accidents injured almost two dozen people on the second day of school Tuesday.
Houston Fire Department officials said 28 people were on a bus when the driver lost control and struck a tree in the median on Briar Forest at Tanglewilde in west Houston.
Twenty people, including the driver, were transported to nearby hospitals with minor injuries.
The kids were on their way to Paul Revere Middle School, a Houston ISD magnet school, which is less than a mile from the accident.

NEWS 92 FM reporter Dennis Spellman reports from the scene:
A seventh grader said the driver hit the curb and then hit the tree.
HFD spokesperson Kenyatta Parker said they still don’t’ know what caused the diver to lose control of the bus, which is owned privately by Nancy’s Bus Service.
“We don’t know,” Parker said. “She just said she lost control, so the reasoning that will be up to whoever is investigating to fid that out.”
The other school bus accident was on Interstate 45 at West Road in north Harris County. Aldine ISD officials tell us a bus was on its way to Stehlik Intermediate School when it crashed, injuring three of the 32 people on board.
None of the injuries were major, officials said. All three were transported as a precaution.
