This season Dallas Mavericks fans have the option to watch the Mavs free of charge on WFAA.

Reportedly WFAA will now serve as the Mavericks’ official local broadcast partner according to a multi-year broadcast rights arrangement announced today by TEGNA, the parent company of WFAA.

WFAA (Ch. 8) or KMPX (Ch. 29), owned by TEGNA, will provide free over-the-air broadcasts of all Mavericks games that are not nationally televised, which will be at least 70 this upcoming season.

The whole schedule will be revealed soon, but the Mavericks’ game versus the Suns on October 26th will kick off the broadcast.

Texas stations in Waco (KCEN and KAGS), Tyler (KYTX), Midland-Odessa (KWES), Abilene (KXVA), and San Angelo (KIDY) will also now be able to air Mavericks games thanks to the new contract.

This comes after Mavericks fans have increasingly grown frustrated with the local television rights, the team decided to end their partnership with Bally Sports.

Nearly three times as many Texans will be able to watch Mavericks games thanks to this new deal, since the majority of games will now be available to about 10 million people.
