It’s definitely hot in Houston – but it may not just be the temperature.
A new report from WalletHub ranked H-Town among the best cities for singles and dating in 2025, slotting in at 33 out of 182 notable cities across the United States. Space City ranked relatively high in many of the 35 metrics WalletHub used to determine “dating-friendliness,” thanks in part to great entertainment options, a solid food scene and relatively lower costs compared to other major American cities. However, Houston’s ranking was hampered by its rather extreme weather conditions during much of the year.
The top spots for singles and dating in the poll went to Atlanta, Las Vegas, Seattle, Pittsburgh and Tampa in that order.
Houston It ranked 22nd among all cities in “fun and recreation.” It earned a ninth-place ranking in “fun cities in America” overall, 15th in nightlife and parties and 25th in entertainment costs. Houston came in 24th overall for best food cities, ranking 64th in cost per meal and 27th in options and quality. The city placed middle of the pack at 91st in dating opportunities.
Despite place 115th in dating economics, Houston far surpassed most of the other top-five largest cities in the U.S., including Chicago (174th), Los Angeles (178th) and New York (182nd). It faired a lot better than several other smaller cities like Atlanta (140th), Milwaukee (126th) and San Francisco (181st). Houston even beat out Dallas (154th) and San Antonio (133rd).
